What about evaluation process?
If you notice any irregularities in the look or feel of the lining of your mouth, you may be experiencing the beginnings of a pathological process. We perform oral exams, biopsies, and treatment for oral pathology at our office.

Treatments for oral diseases vary. Some infections can be cleared up by just taking antibiotics, while cancer and more serious diseases may require surgery. Our surgeons are experts in performing reconstructive surgeries, and your surgeon will thoroughly review your condition and preferences before recommending any treatments.

What is the procedure of evaluation of oral pathologies?
An oral examination is performed using a bright light and mirror. Some of the common steps include:

-
remove any dentures‬
-
look and feel inside the lips and the front of gums‬
-
tilt head back to inspect and feel the roof of your mouth‬
-
pull the cheek out to see its inside surface as well as the back of the gums‬
-
pull out your tongue and look at all of its surfaces‬
-
feel for lumps or enlarged lymph nodes (glands) in both sides of the neck including under the lower jaw‬

Once determined that something looks suspicious, a biopsy may be recommended. A biopsy involves the removal of a piece or all of the suspicious tissue, which is then sent to a pathology laboratory for a microscopic examination that will accurately diagnose the problem. ‬
